Introduction - Contributors - Description of the Sections
Victorian Gamer is a free website devoted to the Victorian Era. Its purpose is to provide a variety of information on the culture, history, politics and technology of the Nineteenth Century. It is also intended to provide information to specific to the needs of Role-Playing Gamers and recreationists.
This website has been re-organized from the original Victorian Gamer e-zine and will be supplemented with new material.
It is my intent to present accurate historical information about the Nineteenth Century. This information is based on a wide variety of presumably reliable resources. Game-related articles that present fictional inventions, alternative history and other works of fiction will be clearly labeled as such.
This is intended to be a collaborative site, built from materials provided by Victorian Gamers from around the world.
In 2007, this site has been resurrected and is now run under the auspices of Sixguns and Saddles Publishing

Descriptions of the Various Sections of this Web Site
Technology
The technology section discusses the technology available or invented during the Nineteenth Century. Some articles are speculative and discuss inventions that may have been possible if things had gone differently. In each article, it will be clearly indicated whether or not it discusses real technology or hypothetical technology. For the most part, however, there was enough real invention going on that it is not necessary to make things up.
Daily Life
This section includes articles about daily life in the Victorian era, from food to clothing to maintaining a household. Medical care, cost of living and a wide variety of other general topics are presented here.
History
The History section includes a (constantly growing) comprehensive timeline of events, as well as articles discussing individual events in more detail.
Biographies
Many interesting people lived in the Victorian period. Some of the Interesting Characters will be presented.
Gaming
This would not be called the Victorian Gamer if we did not present information about how to incorporate all this information into role-playing. Included here will be game ideas, alternative histories, character ideas and much more.
Reviews
There is a lot of information, numerous books and websites, and games that cover the Victorian period. Our contributers will post their reviews so you can have an idea what to expect whether you are planning on purchasing a good book or trying out a new campaign.
Graphics
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so included here will be a variety of Victorian Images.
